Krieder’s 4 Tips on Planning Your Perfect Kitchen
Designing a kitchen sounds easy. Just make a list of things you need or want and then find space for them all. However, attempting it without proper knowledge is guaranteed to leave you with a space that is all but impossible to actually cook in. At Kreider, that's why we've devised 4 tips on planning your perfect kitchen. We need to start off by examining your current kitchen – what works and what does not.
1. Let’s examine your current kitchen
We need to begin by analysing how you and your family use your current kitchen.
Do you use your kitchen for social occasions?
Do you have family meals together every evening in the kitchen or do you have a dining room? Do you often host to guests in the space on social occasions? Perhaps a balance of both. If your kitchen is currently used for more socialising, you may want to consider seating; like a bar or island with snack counter. Â
How is your kitchen storage? are you lacking or do you wish to declutter?
Do you currently have enough kitchen storage? Do you think it is best optimised for the space you have available? Do you need more? We could always do with more but there is a balancing act of design for aesthetic and design for function – we need to aim to combine the two to design your perfect kitchen. What sort of storage is best for your current contents? Do you prefer overhead or deep drawers to contain your essential kitchen equipment. Our kitchen design service allows you to design the kitchen around your needs and how best you like it to work.
What doesn’t work in your current kitchen?
Take a moment to think about what things do not work for you, what agitates you and made you want a new kitchen? Do you have all your necessities close to hand when cooking and preparing food? Utensils? Herbs? Spices? Cookware? Are they perfectly placed for your convenience? Do you have any trouble moving around the kitchen when others are also using it? Any storage you have difficult accessing? Consider how you navigate the kitchen and whether it could be improved layout-wise.
Could you benefit from decluttering your current kitchen?
In order to prepare for your brand new kitchen, you need to decant your current inventory. By doing this you have time to evaluate what is truly necessary and essential to your day-to-day living. It’s the perfect opportunity to be rid of anything that is seldom used.
2. Gather inspiration
This is more than likely the reason you have decided to remodel your current kitchen, however it is one of the most important parts of the journey. You need to identify or be able to articulate a certain style that you desire to our team of designers – or at least have a selection of inspiration kitchens that you have collected. This is the opportunity to craft your perfect kitchen design, a kitchen completely unique to you and your interior or exterior style. Time to gather your design assets!
Collect ideas and kitchens
Have you found something in our kitchen collections you like? Or has a friend or family member had a kitchen designed by Krieder? Or anywhere else? Perhaps a kitchen company that inspired you, but you didn’t have the budget for?

3. Designing your perfect kitchen
Most people start designing the same way. They have a vague picture of what they want in their head and it centres around a particular colour scheme and some key appliances and features. Professional designers operate differently by starting with the kitchen layout. Our in-house designers at Krieder are able to use our years of industry knowledge and experience to bring your aspirations to life, with the help of our streamlined internal process. Kitchen design is a labour of love and knowledge.Â
Measure your room or request a survey
It is essential that you know how much space to use, this is paramount to the amount of furniture, appliance sizes and storage space available to design around. If you kitchen space is more limited, we need to identify the best solution to optimise that space. We offer a free survey, where we visit your home and measure for you – gathering all the data we require to begin the design process.
Establishing the best kitchen layout
We identify the best layout for your new kitchen – whether it is already functioning in the best possible configuration or whether it needs to be improved upon – our free survey can also provide us with this insight.Â
Book a design appointment
We love to kick the design process off in person. We offer an opportunity to visit our flagship showroom and talk through your kitchen requirements and desires over an informal coffee. This also provides an excellent opportunity to discover our range of products, fitted kitchens and functional appliances – and supply any advice on the best options. We love making our process personal, offering an opportunity to review designs and updates in person during the design phase.
Review your complete kitchen design in a 3d render
We present our kitchen design in person and discuss any likes and changes needed. You will see your kitchen come to life in a 3D render created internally on our design software, the software envisions your space with all the furniture, materials, and appliances you have specified during the previous meetings.
4. Installing your new kitchen
Our team of expert kitchen installers and fitters are fully-employed and devoted to supplying the best service. It’s time we put them to work.
How much work is required to install
The amount of work required varies wildly from kitchen to kitchen, often starting with a complete new build can be beneficial as there is no obstacles in the way. How is the layout changing? Are the sinks or dishwashers being relocated? as this would require plumbing alterations. Are the walls in good condition after the old kitchen cabinets have been removed? do they require additional plastering work? There is a wide range of tasks to consider to prepare your current kitchen to be replaced by the new kitchen.Â
Project management
If the work required needs more than simply installing the new kitchen, a project manager is required to manage and streamline the process. We offer this as part of our full kitchen service.
Remedial team
We have a dedicated remedial team available to re-visit the premises should there be any issues with installation.
